Muskegon County will see an increase in its tourism industry as the area becomes a year-round tourist destination with the construction of the Little River Band’s proposed casino.

Economic Benefits

The Muskegon Chronicle wrote an editorial March 28, 2010 http://www.mlive.com/opinion/muskegon/index.ssf/2010/03/editorial_betting_on_a_casino.html supporting a tribal casino for Fruitport Township and urging the Michigan Legislature to “expand Muskegon’s tourism industry.”

A tribal casino at the former racetrack will be an economic catalyst for the Muskegon County region and state of Michigan. The project is expected to generate approximately 1,200 construction jobs. The $180 million investment by the LRBOI would encourage growth in the entire region.
